COMMERCIAL.
MATAWHERO SALE. There was a fair attendance at the weekly live stock sale held at Matawhero to-day. There was an excellent demand for pigs, but only a small entry. Good prices were paid for hoggets, but a large number were passed in. There was a small entry of fat sheep, a fair entry of fat cattle, and store sheep were well represented. Store sheep and cattle sold well, but store sheep, which included a number of inferior lines, met with a rather poor demand. Good hoggets, however, sold well. The following sales were effected: — Fat sheep: 9 ewes 33s 9d, 8 -2-tooth wethers 28s 6d, 42 ewes 23s 7d, 13 hoggets 28s, 3 wethers, heavy 34s 6d. Fat cattle: 1 cow £16, 4 bullocks £14, 1 bullock £14. 1 cow £12, 4 cows £11, 3 cows £9 Ss. Pigs : 3 weaners 245, 3 weaners 26s 6d, 2 baconers £3. Store sheep : 3 forward wethers, 295 ; 4 s.m. ewes, in lamb, 20 8 6d; 62 well woolled hoggets, mixed, " 24s 6d ; 170 hoggets, good line. 20s; 100 wethers, early shorn, 34s 6d; 47 hoggets, good, 26s 3d; 53 empty ewes, 19s 6d; 38 hoggets, mixed, 16s 7d ; 262 ewe hoggets, 22s 6d; 220 hoggets, mixed, 20s; 5 mixed sheep, 16s ; 18 hoggets, mixed, 265; 34 hoggets, mixed, poor, 10s sd; 8 cull ewes, in lamb, 10s; 46 old ewes, in lamb, 17s 6d; 71 hoggets, mixed, fair, 12s lid; 12 hoggets, good, 18s; 29 ewes., empty, forward, 15s 6d; 90 hoggets, 23s 3d; 5 hoggets, culls. 4s 3d; 7 2-tooth wethers,* 25s 9d ; 24 hoggets, 24s 6d.
