WELLINGTON, this day. Cabinet to-day considered the reinforcement questioh on receipt of advice from the Imperial authorities. Sir Jas. Allen, stated that tlw> casualties have not been so heavy as anticipated this summer. The Govermnent had used all the available shipping to send the extra- reinforcements promised for five months, lAit as more men cannot be got to England m time for this summer's offensive, the Imperial authorities advised NeAV Zealand to, temporarily, at any rate, revert, to reduced rates of reinforcements, and if the casualties are heavy during the next few months it may be necessary to increase the reinf droements later. The reduction takes effect immediately.
Asked what effect this will have upon married men mobilising m August, September and October, Sir James Allen replied : As 1 the canips are getting empty it cannot affect the mobilisation very much. •

The Minister for Defence has received a report from General Richardson m England, 1 stating that the 34th Reinforcements are ,very good both physically and m respedb of training. As to tne married men now m the New Zealand camps Sir James Allen speaks m high praise, "They are," he says, "playing the game. There has, been no trouble over calling them up. They ; are: doing srery well indeed with their training. We hare had; no difficulties with them m camp.". " * (Per Press. Association). tl^is day. Sir James .
