DEATH OF MR J. P. McGRATH
(Special to tbe Herald.} WAIPIRO BAY, this day. An inquest was held yesterday afWnoon before Mr. W. Fraser, J.P., acting coroner, and a jury consisting of Messrs. R. Stevenson (foreman), T. Allan, W. Reed, A. Guilbert, J. Sexton, and A. Durrani, m regard to the circumstances connected with the death of James Patrick McGrath.
T. Lawless, m charge of the Waiapu County Council camp, 'identified the deceased. He stated that he left camp on the night of the 9th, his mind appearin? to be deranged. Joseph Woodford deposed to the finding of the body by search party on the 14th. Mrs. Henare Tervwru stated she saw deceased on the hills at Makarika turn-off on the 10th. Constable Bradley deposed to organising search parties, ithe finding of the body, and the condition thereof. Dr. C. S. Davis deposed that he had examined the body, and certified as to the cause of death.
A verdict "was given that, from the medical testimony, deceased died from exposure while of unsound mind.
