DOG TRIALS.
♦ The Hangaroa Dog Trials. took place on Friday in very cold weather, but despite this there was a good attend ance. The entries numbered about 45, and following v are l'esulta : — Long-head : D. Bruce's Chum, 21pts, 1; A. Ellmers' Jimmie, 2Opts, 2; W. Ellmers' Flo, 18pts, 3; W. d'Auvergno's Jock, 16pts, 4. < . Huntaway, zig-zag; W. d'AuvergWs Scott, 30pts, 1; V. Starkey's Toss, 24pts, 2; T. O'Connell's Sandy, 13£pts, 3 ; D. _ Bruce's Johnnie, llpts, 4. Special prizes were , won. as follows :— Two dogs scoring most points in, the day: W. d'Auvergne's Jock and Scott Dog making best head: V. Starkey's True. Competitor, under 21 years age scoring most points in long-head: H. Harris, with Glen. Dog pulling with/ best style : V. Starkey's True. The ( To Kanaka dog trials commenced in beautiful Aveatlier at Te Karaka today. The- trials wero held at Mr. R. D. Dymock's property,; and were vrell sup|>orted. Mr. Geo. Hawkins officiated as judge and Mr. E. W. Bousefield as time-keeper. There were large entries, and keen interest was being taken iii the contests. y
