( Mr. Roberts, in moving the second reading of the Trade Boards Bill, which extends and simplifies the Act of 1909, said he had been immensely attracted by the suggestion that Parliament ought to fix a national minimum wage, but closer examination presented many difficulties, therefor© he was aiming to gradually improve the condition of each industry and to set employers and workpeople to act together on the task of improving their own conditions.
