H., For de-Matthews, dairy farmer, Gisborne. — Mr. Wauchop appeared, on behalf of the appellant. — The father said he had_ four sons, three of whom were on active service, and one returned after three years' service. — The appeal was adjourned till the August sitting. Stanley E. R. Bruce, sheepfarmer, Fernside, Tokomarn Bay. — Mr. Wauchop appeared.-— Appellant said he was manager of his father's property as well as his own, which was 12 miles by a Maori track. .The brother rejected from camp was unable to look after both properties. — Capt. Beale : You sent your brother to camp because you knew he would not stand it?— Yes, *he wanted to go.— When did you acquire the 1500 acre property?— Two years ago. — 'Who did you buy it from? — Amray. — Where is he?— At the front. — Wasn't it a con-; dition of purchase that he should go to the front? — I don't know. — If you artf given a little time you say you will be able to make some arrangements ? — I will do my best. — Witness said lie was engaged for two years before the war broke out, and he was married one month afterwards. — The appeal was dismissed, leave being granted till August 1. This concluded the sitting.
