George Devonport. oi Cardiff,. an engineer on a steamer whieli was sunk "by a submarine* in, 1916, has returned from Germany. lie states he lias seen more food displayed iu one Cardiff shop than in tho whole of Berlin. With other naval men he had frequently been marched through Berlin u> keep up the illusion that many wamhips were being sunk by the Germans. He stated that, the treatment of prisoners \v!;i.s atrocious. When a fire 'broke out at the Brandenburg camp, the Germans did not attempt rescues, and a. seritry drove back with tho bayonet a- British bluejacket mho tried to escape from the flames through a window.
