Ijteed, of Brisbane, who escaped from, Gfermaliy, tstafco that they were employed on farm work Hi Oissemberg, on tho Rhine. . They arranged. , their cscapo with Privato Osboriie, a Scots' Guardsman. Leaving Separate farms, they -.met at an appointed lilace at 8 o'clock one evening and reached .the frontier. 25 miles distant,, after two days, travelling only at night time. They had several narrow escapes, arid once entered a cul de sac with houses on three sides, i A fierce dog prevented their return, and they xrsx& compelled to climb -over t the roof of a house. Iteed had previously attempted to escape, being retaken when within fivo ; miles' of tha< frontier.
