THE FISK JUBILEE SINGERS.

AN ENJOYABLE PROGRAMMED Last night His Majesty's Theatre wh a again well filled, and the Pisk" Jubilee Singers' performance was greatly appreciated. The harmonising-, was splendid m detail, and put ah entirely different aspect on the old coon songs sung.' m ■private homes. Right through the per-' formance there was a quaint touch which appeased the taste of the : theatregoer, and which was. not supplied by the gen* eral type of concert. Probably, the best itemß of the night were (n) Single The Rosary and (b) The Rosary. For. tH is item the stage was m semi-darkness, anil the members of the company were sitting here and there as m any ordinary room, with, a red light on the .tdb'le. Miss Leila Wyburd 1 sang; the first, and , Mr. Sid. Hay nes the. second. The com- : pany assisted m the harmonising of the chorus of the former. Both were. en thiir siastically received. The harmonising man enuore piece by Miss Br .F.. Gib-' bpns [(baritone) "Long, Lqng Time," was exquisite, and this popular singer was obliged to respond to a further env^ core. Mr. Les. Belcher (tenor) rendered "Marguerita" m a finished manner and revealed to the aupUence U, voice oF .un-usual-quality with clear articulation and • splendid control of the head register, ,1,11 his notes being clear, and not shoving the slightest signs of being forocd. Some slight departure wjib made m the " programme as at first set down, but the performance rendered, last night was oi' a type Avhich sho\ild not be .mifißtid' by all -who enjoy harmony by its best producers. The Fisks will copclude ..the' Gisborne season to-nigh^. A matinee was given this afternoon and was largely attended. ■ ._'.
