Accidentally drowned : Tukepe Matenga, Pioneers (Mi-s M. Bartlett, Gisborne, mother). Advice has been received that Private Henry Bell, of the 14th Reinforcements, has been wounded for the second time, this time dangerously, m the iaco ami back. .Prior to enlisting for active •service he was a. member of the local stuff of Messrs Hallenstein Bros. Ltd. Gabled advice has been received by ftJUsi J. Jellie, Riverside road, tha,t -his eldest son, Sgt. Claude Jellie, who was wounded m the back on January sth, has-been re-admitted to hospital m Engr' lan 4 with mastritis. Sgt. Jelliio Jeft wi^, the 15th Reinforcements; and prior to ■enlisting was engaged m farming pursuits. DeeD regret was felt- when- it was known* that Dr. A. M. Tolhurst', N.Z.M.C., of Wiedlington, had beenkilled m action on the Western front on the Bth inst. The late Dr.. Alexander Molesworth Tolhurst, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P. (London) was a son of Mr. G. E. Tolhurst, of Grant road, a highlyesteemed arid well-known citizen of Wellington, who had been for many years chief inspector of New Zealand of the Union Bank of Australia. The deceas-: ed doctor was born m this city, m July, 1881, and was educated at Wellington College. Studying medicine' at Guy's Hospital, he. took a degree m 1906, after which he received the appointment of resident medical officer to a large agricultural settlement at Komombo, near to Assouan, Egypt. He remained there ' only a year, and proceeded to England, where ho took further medical degrees. In 1910 he returned to Wellington to practise his profession. -In May, 1915, he enlisted and was posted to the- hospital ship Maheiio. He returned with the ship, and subsequently left with her again as a member of the medical staff. Later he left for France. Dr. Tolhurst is survived by a widow and '■■ two young children, who at the present time are staying m England. Lieutenant R. M. Tolhurst, his brother, who is a barrister and solicitor^ enlisted as a private iii 1915, and is now an officer of the.- No. 1 N.Z. Divisional. "Employment Company on active service m France. ,
