TERRIBLE PICTUiUS OF DISTRESS. (Renter's Telegram.) • i LONDON, May i5. , ' The agrarian newspaper Glasslaßoda draws a terrible picture of distress m Bosnia arid Herzegovina, and a worse one even m Galicia and Bukovina. The .^jrhole district has been devastated and $epd£ulated, arid its numerous inhabitants have departed, died, or been placed m internment caritjps. Those remaining are being massacred by Austrian soldiers or have, died of starvation. The deaths exceeded the births by 5000 m .1916 and lay 23,711 in 1916, tlie mbr tality not including thbsa fallen on the battlefield. The whole of the live stock has been destroyed or; consumed by the; army. -It is impossible to cultivate owing to the ab3e~h.es of oxen.
