RUSSIA'S FOREIGN INDEBTEDNESS
According to the Financial Times, Russian securities are held by the Alhes to tht> extent of over £1,600,000,000. Of this, one-half was invested therein prior tc. the war, of which £600.000,000 was held by xho French. Sinro the war startpd' it is reported that the Unit?d Kingdom advanced £600,000,030, some of which was to cover interest, on the RusM.nn debt. France nlso advanced £120,---00O.CO0. the United States £80,000,000, and Japan £20,000,000. At 5 per cent, the interest upon these investments would reach £80.000,000 a yoar. Russian securities ar; 1 also held m Germany, but Germany will see that they are- not repudiated — at any rate, at present.
