SIR DOUGLAS HAIG'S REPORT.
ALL ATTACKS REPULSED

IiONDON, April 29, 1.20 p.m. Sir Douglas Haig reports :— Following an' intense bombardment, a strong enemy force violently attacked the French and British positions from the neighborhood of Meteren to Zillebeke. The enemy also attacked the Belgians north of Ypres and the severest fighting developed on the whole Allied front. . ' The twenty-fifth, forty-ninth, and twenty-first British divisions completely repulsed all attempts to enter our positions, despite a constant succession of determined attacks m great strength, maintaining their line intact. " The enemy's losses were very heavy. The French repulsed neavy attacks t»n the hills about Scherpenberg and Mont Rouge. At points where the enemy penetrated a short distance. $ioy were \ quickly driven out and the greater parti of the ' ground regained by counter-at-tacks. The Belgians repulsed all attacks after a sharp fight, inflicting severe casual-' ties. Fighting is continuing at certain points along the Allied battlefront. Owing to bad weather our aeroplanes dropped only a few bombs on various targets. ' .
