The shortage of coal iti Qhristchurch continues very acute, and one- dealer with whom the matter Ayas tKscusscd asserts, that in the generality of cases: the coal yards have been '"swept clean,'" so that the outlook: for the approaching winter months is not at a'il promising. On the contrary, it is in this respect very black. One. large dealer said that he was finding it practically impossible to get an order filled, and he was supplying his customers with lignite, and some other dealers "were supplying only cuke and wood. .
