The following is a statement by John Whitaker, bankrupt: "I leased a billiard saloon at Waipaoa, Kaitavatahi, at the end iof • November last.. I had capital of £25 to £30, and was doing all right by tho end of December, when the freezing works employees asked mo to supply them with meals. I borrowed some money from a 'money-lender for this purpose," and could have done well, as I had ; rented a small farm opposite and stocked same, so that.l could get all supplies at the cheapest rate. Owing to the first, instalment not being paid to the money-lender on the due date, he put a bailiff m possession of |my property, and I considered it best to file my petition for tho benefit of my creditors."
