(Elec. Tel. Copyright— United Press Assn.) (Australian and. N.Z. Gable Association.) j (Received April 9, 10.5 a.m.) 1 LONDON, April 9. The Daily Chronicle says: We learn that the Government, m anticipation of an Irish settlement, propose to include m 4ih»Tiew; ■ Military Service; Rill their intention to extend conscription to Ireland at some unspecified date. This serious blunder will assuredly blast the fair promising hope of a. reconciliation between Ireland and England. The Government will incur a terrible responsibility m wrecking the Convention's work. It is true that Ireland's exemption from the Act of 1916 Was annually, and if conscription is accompanied by Home Rule, Ulster's objection to an Irish Parliament . is mitigated, but this reasoning ignores . the realities. The Home Rule Act -did not become operative m 1914. There are signs that Sinn Fein is on the down grade. It is ifee bounden duty of the Government to promptly, adopt the. Convention's recommendations.- — Conscription 'must not 'be mingled; with Home Rule. ''"'",.' (Received Api-il 9, 10.5 a.m.) :.• ■ LONDON* Aprils, pevalera, m a speech at Tull amor e, said the Irish people must unite to, a man to resist conscription. It was better to die for Ireland? than for. Flanders.
