Sergt. W. R. Forbes, died of wounds on April 4th at the St. John Ambulance Brigade Hospital, Etaples. Another message states that deceased had received a gunshot wound iv the head on April Ist. Sergt. Forbes, who was 25 years of age, had been over two years at the war. Prior to enlistment he was engaged m station work m the Waimata Valley, and was well known to many m the district. He had recently been recommended for a commission and was to have gone into training to qualify for his lieutenancy. A brother, Edward Forbes, was lulled earlier m the war, and another brother is on active service. Mr. Geo. Redpath,, Rukauroa, has received word that her son, Driver T. A. Redpath, has been admitted to a hospital m France Avith appendicitis. Lieut. W. J. Cox, reported killed m action, was the only son of Major R. G. Cox, of Heine Bay, Auckland. He was 25 years of ago, and had considerable experience m military matters, being sub-lieutenant m the old school days and color-sergeant of the Auckland Grammar N School. He was a lieutenant m the Auckland Infantry Regiment, under his father Major Cox, and was .selected as musketry officer during Captain Wallingfold's absence at Gallipoli. He was atluched to tho 29th and 30th Remforce-un-iits. and eventually left with tho 30th. Ilts was a first-class rifle shot, and an association football player, representing Now Zealand while at home.' The very many friends of Captain Charlie Sommerville, one of the most popular officers of the Wellington Mounted Rifles (says the Wangaiiui Herald) will regret to hear, that he was killed ; n Palestine while serving with the Brit-' ish forces there. Captain Sommerville was an unassuming officer, held m the highest esteem by his men and by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was an old member of the Alexandra Mounted Rifles, of which troop he was formerly captain, and served with distinction m the South African campaign as a member of the Second Contingent. He was promoted from the position of lieutenant to captain for gallantry iii the field fit Rhenostor Kop, where he was wounded m the arm. He was also wounded m the present campaign, during one of the early advances m Pafa&nfc
