(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) „ , AMSTERDAM, April 4.. The Neue Freie Presse states: Before the beginning of the offensive President Wilson and Mr. Lloyd George tried to induce M. Clemenceau to accept the principle of opening pourparlers with Germany of a private and unbinding character; M. Clemenceau refused and threatened to resign. Finally President Wilson and Mr A Lloyd George accepted M. Clemenceau's viewpoint.
