CANADA'S SHIPBUILDING PLANS.

OTTAWA, Jan. 3. The Dominion Government, which is i inaugurating a vigorous shipbuilding [policy, proposes to utilise all the Oahajdian shipyards, the total capacity of .which is one and a-quarter million 'tons annually. Three classes of steel ships will be 1 built, comprising vessels of 3000 tons, 5000 tons, and from 8000 to 10,000 tons. The Government is also negotiating for the construction of the necessarv rolling mills. Potatoes are to be grown in Egypt for export to Great Britain. On the advice of the Imperial Institute, which has been investigating means of developing the resources of the Ebnpire, the Egyptian Government have made arrangements for the sowing of the best varieties.
