PROTESTANT DEPUTATION.
(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND. last night. A deputation from the Loyal Orange Lodge and Protestant Political Association interviewed the Hoi/. Mr., Myers, stating that they desired to obtain certain publications on Romanism from other countries. As Minister for Customs, Mr. Myers had decided that he could not allow it. The Rev. Mr. Smith said this literature was required' to oounteract certain disloyalty m New Zealand. ,'Jf the Government continued to stop it coming ill, then the Protestants would speak. J ; Mr. Myers: Is. that a threat? * ..-■; Mr. Smith : It i& not a threat. It'is a statement of fact. They would support the National Cabinet so long as the Cabinet acted m the best interests of the country. If the literature was false, Romaai Cathodes cbuld eapily prove its falsity. v - Dr. Reekie, representing the P.P. A. expressed similar views. Mr. Myers said he had' seen the literature m question, and had consulted Mr. Massey, and they decidied that it would be prejudicial to recruiting, and had stopped its coming m. They had to recognise that the Empire was at war, and it was necessary to present a united front, particularly m view of the (iritical' situation now existing.
