IRISH ELECTION CAMPAIGN.
LONDON, March 17. A message from Dublin says that 200 police, fully armed" will assist during the election at Waterford to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. John Redmond. Pig dealers m the district have cancelled all business engagements pending the election, and will concentrate to support Captain W. A. Bedmond (Mr. John Redmond's son), who has been received m the city like Royalty. The seat is regarded as his heritage. The local clergy are anxiously counselling moderation, 'and the Sinn Feiners are growing circumspect. LONDON, March 18. An unprecedented event .m Irish politics occurred on Sunday at Waterford, which is at present m the throes of a most bitter election campaign. Captain Redmond, the Nationalist candidate, and Mr. White, the Sinn Feiner, followed by their respective retainers, making tip a two-mile procession, attended the -St. Patrick's Day celebrations. The demonstration was followed by meetings, at which Captain Redmond defended the attitude of the Nationalists towards recruiting m Ireland.
