Admiralty Intercepts. — Wireless Press.)LONDON, March 28. A German official report says: — Thei English and French yesterday tried to arrest our a'dvance on the Somme. Our attack broke through the enemy's lines early in the morning onwards, and the enemy retreated on a wide front on both sides of the Somme. Our sharp pursuit overcame a stub born resistance by the enemy's rear, guards. We crossed the Ancre northwards and southwards of Albert, which fell in the evening. We drove back the enemy, after violenti fighting, southward of- ihe Somme, via Chaulnes and Lihons. We stormed Roye. We cleared out the enemy from Noyon. After bloody fighting wo crossed .many of our old positions before the 1916 Somme battle. Our total of prisoners is growing and ,our booty is increasing.. There are artillery battles in Flanders, at Verdun, and in ?Lorraine.' A later German official report says: — Our armies are 'engaged, and slowly progressing in an attack on both banks of the Somme. LONDON, March 29. A German official report says: — The English again brought fresh divisions > from other fronts. We drove back tho enemy north-west of. Bapaume from old crater positions in the direction of Bucquoy and Hebuternc. The enemy fought fruitlessly and with special stubbornness for the * rocouquest of Albert. Strong attacks accompanied by tanks sanguinarily broke down on ..the slopes west of Albert. Our divisions broke through at many points south of the Somme, driving back the English and French into an area un- . touced by war sinco 1914. The Crown Prince's victorious troops, iu an -uninterrupted attack; "peitetrated 60 kilometres from St. Quentin across the Somme and pushed forward yesterday, reaching Pierepont and Mqntdidier. Our losses generally are within the normal limit, but were hea,^ at some vital points.. It is v estimated that 60 to. 70 per cent, are slightly wounded. Artillery battles have increased in violence in Lorraine. A later message: states : Our attack between the ahd the Ancre captured, villages which 'wore.; toughly defended.
