SHORTAGE OF SHIPPING.
THTC PREMIER'S STATEMENT
(Ver Press Associations
WEM.TNBTON, last night. Mr Massey made the following- statement to-day regarding the shipping supply. — "I am sorry to say tlie outlook is jiot nearly so good as it was six weeks or two months ago. Fortunately, in January and up till the ■' pi*esent in this month, th© supply of snipping has been good, and we hav G very greatly reduced our stocks of frozen meat and dairy produce in the different cold stores throughout the dominion. I think even now thei'-e will be no serious difficulty or far as frozen meat and cheese are concerned. The. difficulty, -I am afraid, will he with regaixl to wool, flax., tallow and other commodities which are very often considered to be of minor importance, hut which in the- aggregate- arc of importance to the 1 dominion as a whole. I hope the trouble will not last very long, but it is just as well for the public to know that lor the next six weeks or two months the supply of shipping — especially for the articles I have mentioned — will not be. so good as it has been since the commencement of the year. I have only to say the Government will continue to do everything it possibly can; to> ease, the position."
