5 The 'Church of England Ladies' Guild held their annual sale of work on Wednesday. The weather was perfect for , the occasion. From a very early hour on Tuesday morning workers were busy preparing the hall. The sale was opened J at 1 p.m. The following is a list Of the stallholders : Work stall, Miss Greenslade and Mrs Snow; lollies, Mrs J. B. Clark and Mrs Fielder; jumble , stall and 'Christmas tree, Mrs Smith and , Miss Howe j Father Christinas, Mr Winchester'; produce, Mrs Elmmerson and Mrs Ensor; soft drinks, Mr Douglas ■ Clark; refreshment room, Mrs It. de J Laaitour, assisted by Mesdames , Richard - Meming and Pomeroy, and the Misses i- Briant, Bulst, Robertson, and Traffordt I Mr Ernmerson had charge of thei door. * In the evening a v very suocessful- concert. *■ was held, kindly arranged by the Rev. ■*. H. Packe, who, with Messrs Harre, Ma_ > - - goliouth, Mitchell, and 0. Wood, arrived i by the evening train. The hali was 1 well filled for the first iten. on the programme. Judging by the audience, the r concert was greatly appreciated by the t "people of Matawai. Mr Stanley Briant 1 assisted m the programme with a recita- , tion. .Mr Chas. Fielder and Mr Win- . Chester liad .charge of the door. The 3 ticket -money is not yet «iil to hand, but it is expected to amount from. £11 to j £12.- Tlie church funds will W swelled l to the. extent of about £40 on the day's 3 proceedings. The work cf clearing the j hall for the concert was greatly lightened by the -assistance of Mr. Curtis arid MrWinchester', A" • ' . -
