PROHIBITION MOVEMENT.
VICTORIA, 8.C., Sept. 29. ' Sixty-six licensed premises m Victoria are affected by the coming into force of prohibition, including 47 hotels, sx bottle licenses, two restaurants and 11 wholesale houses. There are 87 licensed bartenders m the city. Of the hotels all will continue to operate, though most of them will hereafter be classed as rooming 'houses. The bar of the Empress Hotel will be closed, while m, a few other hotels near beer and soft drink emporiums will be opened. Baanich has four, FJsquimalt four and 'Dak Bay two licenses affected br the Act.
NXNAIMO, Sept. 29. Off Nanaimo's eighteen hotels all will close their doors to-night m accordance with tbe prohibition regulations, but eight will re-open on Monday with near beer, soft drinks and other non-intoxi-cants. Cabaret features will be introduced m a number of places as an experiment, but H- is generally felt that conditions will not warrant more than two or three such places m tha city.
