• Anzac Headqiiai*ters, 'Oct. 21. All the Australian divisions took part m the Ynres battle. It was the first time that* more than three had been m an offensive battle togetluer. The First and Second Divisions led off, and then the rest were sent m. In the third attack on Octobei* 4 three divisions went over the- top with the New ZeaJaiicler?. It was the greatest day m the A.I.F. history on the Western front. Every- objective was achieved, and the Prussian Guards smashed on the First Division's front, where they had/ assembled mNo Man's Land for an attack. The New South Wales and Victorian brigades of the Second Division did heroio work m the movement of October 9, carrying out a difficult task under terribly difficult conditions. Tlie Third Division was the principal AugtiaJian force engaged on October 12, when it !finally won ; its spurs m tlie A.I.F. brotherhood by as brave and tenacious fighting as any m the wodd's history.
