EAST AND WEST LINKED UP. T MELBOURNE, Oct. 17. The* railway connecting the east with the west was linked up at Ooldea, aboiit half-way between Port Augusta and Kalgoorlie, at 1.46 p.m.. to-day. The construction of the line began on July 31, 1912, over five years ago, and, though the estimated cost, was £4,045---000, the. expenditure, when the line is finally coriipleted and equipped, "will be considerably Over £7,000i000..
