A formal meeting of the shareholders of the P.B.- Farmers' Saleyards Co., Ltd., was held on Saturday afternoon to contimi a resolution changing the name of the company, which was passed at a prior meeting but the application had been refused owing, to a slight error m the computation of the time as required by the regulations.

Lieutenant FitzGerald is A-soJi of the lajte ifr W. O. FitzGerald, chemist, of Wellington.
The ownership of the lakes of New Zealand is a question that lias been ox<nting considerable SnteSrest for teom,e time, inasmuch as the right and title to the lakes is claimed bj*; the ISfeoris. The general question as to whether the o'vvnorship of the lakes lies with the Crown, or with the Natives, is to be decided by the full bench of the Native Land Cburt Judges at Wellington m January next. If tlio Maoris are adjudged to *be the owners .of the lakesj the question of ap' portioning, .th'e- interests of the ; various tribes m different lakes will subsequently be decided by Native Land Coiii*t Judges m the various districts.
