Promotion m the. new British Army is nearly as rapid as it was , m the armies of Napoleon. 'Something like a record, however, must have been created by Major A. W. Ellis, of the Canadian Forces, who recently d:'<Jd of wounds. Major Ellis was only 20 years of age, and began the war as a private. He owed his promotion to conspicuous bravery, and he won the Croix de Guerre after the fighting on the Somme.
President Wilson personally typed his famous war message to Congress. When he had finished the document Mr* Woodrow Wilson hande"d him a brand new pen, bearing the colors of France and America, with which to sign it. The pen has been carefully treasured since that historic moment, 7 and. when Mrs Wilson visits France after the Allies' victory it is her intention to present this relic to one of the Paris wai' museums.
