POULTRY SHOW.
The Garrison hall resembled a huge poultry farm to-day, the occasion being . the fourth annua l show under' the auspices of the P.B. Poultry, Pigeon, and Cage Bird Association, judging started t ln s morning, and th© show was op_ned to the public this a.ftemoon, and continues to-night and all day to-morrow and to-moiTow evening. The fixture is being run m conjunction with the ► VV omens Patriotio Committee, to whose s funds the net proceeds will be devoted. buch .exhibitions as these serve a useful purpose especially m a district such as •* this, where there is much scope for the i development of the poultry industry. the previous shows conducted by the ; Association have had a beneficial effect, , tor each year not only are the entries _ more numerous, but the quality of the _ birds show a marked improvement. Tin's . year is no exception of the rule. These awards went to Mr T.- Crosby for his fine, white hen and- Brown cockerel. Mr L .osby-s American wliite -cockerel was awarded the American White -L«_rhorn Cup for -bird under 12 months to be won three times ,* and Mi* ' X "Nasmith 's cup for gams under 12 months' to.be\ron three times, was awarded to Mr J*. Maynard's black-breasted red cockerel. Mr O. A. Fenwick's cup, for white Rock, under twelve -monthsV to be won three times, went to Mrs H. White's pullet. Mr Crosby this year won outright the cup presented hy Sir Jas Car-" 1 roll tor most points m Leghornsjn three years, he having woii it three times m 1 succession. — -: ' Mr 6. Amongst _, the stalls is one containing a display of . the articles that the ladies send to the . hospitals fer the soldiers. There is also " fu St S H, wnich S ifts are received for . the boys.
