MOTORISTS' ASSOCIATION.
<•> A committee meeting of the Poverty Bay Motor Association was held on Saturday afternoon. Present : Major A. G. Beiere, Messrs S. S. Dean, A. W. J. Manor, J. W. Fairlie, C. H. Bridge, J. C. 1 Field, L. T. Burnard, W. Tucker, A. ■ O. Steele, W. L. Butler, and W; G. McLaurin. Major Beere presided. * The Chamber of Commerce wrote 9 asking, thei association tp appoint delegates to attend the .conference to be held on July 10 m referent to -a district sCheme for the construction and maintenance of a maiiii road .to Napier. — Messrs A. C. Steele, L. T. Burnard, and W. L. Butler were elected as the association's delegates. Correspondence was received from the New Zealand Automobile Unibn 6ver various matters. The annual conference is being 'held oh July 27 at 'Wellington. — Mr. D. T. Burnard has been appointed delegate for the local association, and intends bringing tip several matters affecting motorists generally. The taxi drivers of Hannah's corner have asked the association to approach the Borough Council to reconsider their decision by allowing them to have their cars facing Gladstone road as formerly done.— The association consider the attitude taken up by th© taxi drivers is correct and a letter is being forwarded to the Borough Council on the matter. The association trusts by next meeting to be able to notify its members of a satisfactory method of deflecting the head lights. Experiments are still being 'proceeded with. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs J. C. Field, L. T. Burnard and S. S. Dean was appointed to go fully into the matter m reference to rules for guidance ■ m driving.— -The association are writing H to -the various councils asking them* if " they would kindly erect danger, signals ■ ( at places* to be nominated by their overseer, the association, supplying the 'signals. J Mr E. L. Lees, manager, of the wool and produce department of the Poverty Bay Farmers' Saleyards Cb., Ltd.. i waited on the conimittee and put several matters of interest before them, which , the individual members of the association should adopt. — Mr Lees was thanked for his attendance. ; I Several -nominations for membership iivere dealt with and passed. The as- ' sociationi is receiving good support from the motorists generally, but it is essential that every owner should become a I member. Any information will be given .by the secretary, Mr..R. H.
