Referring to; the pending Avar loan he said that a largo sum would be necessary, aud he appealed to business men m their oavii interests as well as those of the Slate mot to assist any movement for raising rates of interest to an abnormal extent. Trade conditions of the Dominion after tho Avar Avere likely to be very favorable. There Avould be much to do m re-building devastated countries and transferring men from the Old Country, and he hoped from all the Dominions. Contracts for an enormous amount had alrady been entered into by the British Government. 'T do not believe avo are going to have a tight money market for iong after the war," he said. "Within two years after the Avar Aye are going to have cheap money. Some people think othenvise, but I do not." People m the Old Country who before 'tho Avar invested millions and millions m Germany and other Continental countries Avould require an outlet for their capital. These people were iioav providing over 450 millions of neAv money for fresh' investments. After the Avar "there Avould be no great navies to bo built or tho great armies that the exigencies of the war had necessitated. New Zealand had provided during the past three years for the Avjar and otlher purposes no less than 12 to 15 millions. Altogether the prospects for tho successful conduct of New Zealand's ordinary affairs Avere very bright indeed.
