VICTORIA LEAGUE.

The annual' meeting of the local branch of the Victoria League was held yesterday afternoon at tho Red Gross shop. In the unavoidable absence of the president (Mrs W. 11. Barker) Mrs H. WWilliams presided. The annual report and balance-sheet (alfeady published) were adopted, and the election of officers resulted as follows : President "Mbs W. R. Barker (re-elected) ; vico-presideiite, Mesdames H. Kenway, R. Sherratt,- R.( J. Reynolds, J. C. Field, J. W. Nolan, A. W. Murray, A. H. Wallis, and H. Williams} committee, Mesdames Kells, Stevenson, A. M. Beere, T. Jex-Blake, o.\Giay, Willock, Goffe, J. G. N. Thomas, Crawford, Fairlie, Humphreys, C. Wliite, A. G. Beeie, H. White, and Misses Brooke-Taylor ; secretary, Miss A. Gray (re-elected) ; treasurer, Mr C. P. Davies (re-eleoted). It was decided that office-bearers missing three consecutive meetings without good cause being shown should forfeit their seats, and that other members should be elected to fill the vacancies. A vote of thanks was accorded to the secretary and also the treasurer m appreciation of their services. Delegates from district committees were informed that they might attend the general shop committee meetings, whilst it' was also explained that all members of the Victoria League were at liberty to attend the monthly meeting of the committee of the league, although they would uot have a voice m the decisions. Some discussion: ensued respecting the hour of closing the shop, some of the countfy members pointing out that they desired to return home as sOon as they had sold out. It was pointed out by Mrs Reynolds, however, that much business was frequently transacted ih connection with the work-stall m "the afternoons. EVentually the subject was held over for further consideration at the next meeting of the shop committee.
