DEEDS OF GREAT BRAVERY

(JapUiin Henry William .Murray, of the Ausuaaan Infantry, for most conspicuous bravery in an autack. He led his company with great skill aud courage, me position was qwckly captured, inghtuig oi the severest "nature followed. Three heavy counter-attacks were aeat-en off, due to Captain Murray's wonderful work. Through the night ihe company suffered heavy* casualties chrough concentrated enemy shell lire. On one occasion they gave ground for a short way, but Capla.u Murray gallantly rallied hia command, and saved Lhe situation by sheer valor, encouraging the men, heading bombing parties, leading oayonet chargesy and carrying the wounded to places of safety. His magnificent exai^Po inspired the men throughout.
Sergeant Mott, of the Border Regiment. When his company was held up oy machhie- gun fire, although severely wounded in the eye, he made a rush at a gun, anl after a fierce struggle seised the gunner, and took him prisoner, and captured the gun. ' «
