DARDANELLES REPORT.

QUESTIONS RAISED BY PRESS

AND POLITICIANS.

(.Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)

(Received March 3, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, March 2. In the House of Commons Sir E. W, Essex asked why preference was given to party leaders.

Mr Bonar Law admitted tliat it was i precedent, but said he considered ii right that leaders should know that the omissions did not affect the substance of th'e report, and were not made iv anybody's interests. Mr Dalziel asked if the leaders were allowed to communicate with their col leagues.

Mr. Bonar Law: Tlie complete report.* are to be confidential.

The Manchester <j-i_ard.au protests aga-ust the publication of the censored Dardanelles report. It would perhaps be better to withhold,, it until after the war. It asks "Has the Government power to withhold a full report from members of tbe House of Commons V It suggests that the commissioners' consent should be secured beforo the wording is altered ; otherwise it would not be the commissioners' report.
