Accompanied by two of deceased's brothers Mounted Constable 'Morris* wont out to tho locality with ;. view to iir.ng a charge of dynamite in the hope of bringing tho body to tho .surface. Tho body ia evidently in a. deep hole hi the river, there being a- shelving papa ledge and a depth ot a.bout 20ft of water. At 3.40 -this Afternoon tho police were informed that tho body had been recovered. It was found in a pool below tlie spot, where deceased was bathing. Notices have now been posted to members of the First Division of .the -Reserve who have lodged appeals against thenbeing called, up by the ballot notifying tha particular day on which they will requinre to appear beforo' tho Ajjlitary Service Board. Any man who has not received his .travelling warrant or does not receive same will not be excused lor non-attendance therefor, but should mako application at the local Defence Office on his arrival at Gisborne for a refund of the amount . expended in travelling. Appellants 'from outside Gisborne should report at the group office for board and lodging orders.
