SHIPPING NEWS RESaiUOTED. Tbe following new regulation in regard : to the publication of shipping news has been gazetted: 1. No person shall, without the written- consent •of ■ a military authority, fmblish or cause or permit, to be pubished in a newspaper any statement or indication as to the movements, whereabouts^ cargo, or employment of any ship engaged or about to be engaged in any voyage the course of which lies wholly or partially to .the north of the Equator, Or any information as to any such ship, which if known to the enemy might be a source of danger to that ship or might otherwise be of use to the enemy. 2. No person shall, except in the course of his lawful business in relation %n any ship ss afoifeeajidlj fcendj or causa bo be sent out of New Zealand by means of any telegram, letter, or otherwise howsoever any such atatement, indication', or information ,as aforesaid with respect to that ship. 3. Nothing in these regulations shall ' make it an offence to publish in Ne*v Zealand : * (a) Any matter contained in a newspaper printed in tlte United King--dom after tho 23rd day of. December, 1916, and received in New Zealand prior to the publication there of such matter ; or (b) Any matter transmitted to New Zealand by telegram from a recognised Press Agency in the United Kingdom, and passed for publication in a newspaper by the censors of telegraphic mesages; or (c) Any information as to shipping casualties. 4. These regulations shall be deemed pa_"t of arid read together with the War Regulations of the 10th day of November, 1914.
