Medical men are leading a strenuous life just, now, those who have not gone to ■. the front undertaking not only their own work, but that of the absent doctor^. The doctors find it difficult to coyer the whole of the ground, and patients do not always help them. A case occurred on Thursday where, acwhole 10 medical men responded to the were calleft to a case of sickness m a distant suburb. In due course the whole ten medical responded to the call, having had to specially arrange their work to keep an engagement, which was m reality the work of only one man.— -Dominion.
At-, the Native Land Court yesterday judgment was given m the Mangatu case. His Honor Judge Jones intimated that he was not surprised that the wording of the judgment of the previous Court had given trouble, as there) were several inconsistencies m it which might, however, have been due to the copying. Even the natives on the day on which the judgment was givejn did not seem to clearly understand it, because a few days afterwards the 'Court felt itself called on to explain its own judgment. The remarkable feature about the case, however, was that the written, explanation made the judgment more involved than ever. After going through the evidence his Honor announced that the present Court had come to the conclusion that the previous Court had decided against the claim of Wi Mahuiaka and others, except as regards some fiubsequMifc occupation for which approximately 6000 acres were located and cut off. Any natives, therefore, under that section m the list would not be treated as entitled under conquest.

At the meeting of the County Council a letter from the Tauranga* Chamber of Commerce was read asking for the Council's 'assistance m the scheme, also a telegram urging immediate consideration of the project.— Cr. Douglas moved that the Council do not help to bring the. Parliamentary gentlemen through. ... We can't get much from them and any expenditure would be a ■waste of mottey.— -Cr. Tuev ought to come round without looking, to the local bodies for assistance.— Cr. f- Burt : What did we get from the last mob? — Cr. 'Prebbles: Nothing— except a lot of promises, and we had to feed them up well for that. — Cr. Murray : Just reply to the Tauranga people that our County doesn't need advertising. — The Chairman : It's not like up North. — The motion not to contribute was seconded by Cr. Burt and carried.
