GREAT BATTLE RAGING. j GENERAL ATTACK ON BULGAR LINES. THE APPROACH TO MONASTIR. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, October 18. Mr Ward Price reports : — The French, Serbians, and Russians have commenced a general attack on the maim (Bulgarian line defending Monastir. -The. encounter is the fiercest since the fighting at Lake Ostrovo, and the": preliminary bombardment lasted all night. On Monday afternoon the guns suddenly ceased, and an infantry attack was launched. Reports as to the results have not yet been receiA-ed from the whole line. A French communique states : — There Avas violent artillery fire on the right bank of the Vardar. The Serbs repulsed violent cpuiiter-attacksi at Bellvoda and Cerna.
