(Per Press Association.) CHRLSTCHURCH, last night. For tho second day of the C.J.C. Grand National Meoting. ' which was held to-day, tile weather was fine and the attendance large. Tho Governor was again present. The totalisator handled £43,213 10s, an increase of £1362 10s over the corresponding day last year. Following are later results : August Handicap : Seadown .1, Oxenhope<2, Cherry Blossom 3. Also .van-: Rorke's Drift. Encore, Glenroy, George, Battle Eve, Heeltap, Fabrikoff, Obsono, Marsa, Comely, Derby Day, Otara, Peronilla, Speedometer, Icilma. Cherry. Blossom and Derby Day were the . quickest to begin, and led the field to the course proper, where Marsa was showing to tho front. A little further on, Speedometer moved into-; the leading division, but was unable to maintain tlvi «fi<vri, &v.d Oxenhope and Seadown came through. Seadown drew away from Oxenhope over the final stages aijd won by two lengths and a-half. Cherry Blossom was a similar distance away third, with Derby Day fourth. Time, lmin 18 2-ssec. After a false start and trouble occasioned by Pursefiller, ■ the field got away with a good tetart, with the exception of Kooja, who was 'left standing at the post. Master Regel and Golden March led over the first hurdle, with Pursefiller and Styorax liext. The same order was maintained until the straight was reached. As the field passed the stand Master Regel was slightly m front of Golden March, and then came Pursefillei*, Kilmeny, Styrax, Art, and Tararua Jack. Entering the back stretch, Master ' Beget wag still holding the head, with Golden, .March close at hand. Kilmenv here ran into third place, with Art, and Styijax kept close m hand. Before reaching the half-mile post, Kilmeny had run into second place, while Golden March dropped out of the running. Master Regel led over the last jump, with ; Kilmeny, Art, and Sir Solo. close onf. his heels. When it camo to the run home, the Sarto gelding came resolutely and wore down Master Regel, scoring by half a head. Two lergths away came Sir Solo third, followed by Marconi, Harbor, Light, Kilmeny, and Crib. Kooya walked m. Time, 4min 5 3-ssec. Beaufort Steeplechase : Queen's Post 1, New York 2, Lady Bibbero 3. Also ran : Waimai, Ngatoa, Wirokirio, Fagot Bravest. Idealism, Black Sea, Sam Pan Nita, The Brewer, Recharge, Kaupokomri, Oratonui.-- New York led over the kennels double, where Bravest fell, while the big sod wall brought Oratonui down. Before -teaching the straight Now York had charge, nv.d at the stand double was showing the way to The Brewer and Queen's Post, while Waimai moved up into fourth phice. At the first fence of this double Kaupokonui came to grief. At Cutts', Queen's Post had Waimai as her closest attendant, with New York noxt and Idealism and Nita at the head of the seconjcl division. Queen's PO3l and Waimai raced almost on terms along i the back and; over the kennels double, but at the sod wall Waimai fell. Rounding the top {turn, Idealism and Lady Bibbero improved their positions, while before the last jump was reached New York came again. Queen's Post led over the last fence, and, stalling off New York's won by four lengths, Ladyvßibbero two lengths away third, «nd.".&eii>. came Idealism » Recharge.. Black Sea, and Ngatoa.
