WORK OF . MELBOURNE MINT. MELBOURNE, July 6. Since the Melbourne branch of the Royal Mint was established, m 1872, it has received ' 36,151,0300z. of gold, arid has coined 130,967,549 sovereigns and 1,767,895 half-sovereigns. Of the gold received by' the Mint m the 44 years 26,727,3600z. was raised m Victoria, and the remainder 6f the 36,151,0300z. dealt with come from New Zealand and West Australia. Besides the gold coined 2,495,5710z. of bullion was handled, and the total value of gold and bullion which passed through, the Mint is £142,297,202.
