The City Recruiting Committee iias resolved tq. transfer the recruiting station from the Drill Hall to a central position in a building in, Queen street. The Mayor stated \ that he had arranged to co-operate with the military authorities in maintaining a supply of recruits from the city. The .erection of a Oufiding will be commenced immediately asnd completed by Saturday. Recruiting officers will be in attendance day and night. At night thbi. building will be brilliantly illuminated. It is intended to. enlist th,9 services -of a number of returned soldiers as recruiting sergeants. Tht* iommritee resolved to strongly • urge' : onV' 'the Government the imperative necessity for facilities for men going into camp immediately ( on, enlistment. So strongly does the committee feel. this \)oint t/hat it has seriously considered making provision itself for receiving recruits. It was decided, that cost and other features formed an insuperable difficulty, which t-he Defence Department has not to face.
