Pop pel well " (Dunedin), president, occupied the chair, and the following! d eflegattf* *- -were present : Rev. Father Coffey (Dunedin), Rev. Dean Hyland and Eiev. Father Keidey (Christchurch), Rer. Dean Power, Rev. Father Hurley, Messrs J. J. L. Burke 3 J. Duggan, W. F. Johnston, and P. D. Hoskins (Wellington), Rev. Father Forde Cahill and .Mr P. E. ftromgool (Auckland). Archbishop O'Shea represented the hierarchy and letters of apology expressing! good wishes for the success of the meeting, were read from Archbishop Ceretti and Archbishop. Redwood. Tll extending a welcome to His Grace and visiting delegates, the president re/marked that the most important event of the past six months had been the visit of the apostolic delegate to New Zealand. Occasion had been taken tc express to His Holiness the Pope, through the delegate, the loyalty of the Catholic Federation;." Mr Poppelwell also referred to the consecration of tiie. Right Rev. It was hoped shortly to have such hostels jin each of the principal centres. The halt-yearly report of the Dominion Executive was adopted and the treasurer's; interim statement of. receipts and expenditure. which .showed a healthy state of finance, were alr.o adopted. , Discussion on tho various remits enr/'.red. amongst other questions being various phases of the education -qnes tion affecting Catholic , colleges and schools, Catholic church halls at Trentham. and Featherston, the work of the Dominion organisation, Catholic rolls of honor in connection with the -Expeditionary Forces, the publication of the Federation magazine,' the promotion of social science study, the care of Catholic, soldiers in Egypt and behind the riling line, and the establishment of a Catholic field service fund.
