SOLID FOR IMPERIALISM.

LUNCHEON TO SDR, REU). (Press Assn!— By Telegrapl|^Copyrtßnt.) (Received January 2(1 v S£ts. p.m.) . LONDO#snuary 19. An immense Imperial .- Withering attended the Colonial Institute luncheon to Sir Geo. Reid, Lord Milner presiding, m the absence of Mr Bonar Law, who is attending an international conference. Lord : Milner said that whatever differences there mcght.be as to the origin of. the war, there, was unanimous admiration and gratitude at the magnificent gallantry of the distinguished fellows from the Dominions. He was not surprised at their soldaerly qualities. Nothing was more remarkable than that the statesmen arid peoples of the Dominions, despite so much that might have caused them to-' waver, stood steadily behind the Imperial cause. Lord Milner said- there were many occasions for criticism and complaint which might naturally have arisen m England and could not be resented, but the Dominions went on uncomplaining and uncritical with a single thought of putting their whole strength into the struggle, with enormous material and moral support. The future of mankind depended on the Allies' success. Sir George Reid paid a tribute to the cordial assistance given him by tbe High Commissioners, the Admiralty, and Colonial and War Offices. Despite the numbers buried m Gallipoli never a word of resentment had been shown. They are determined to share the responsibility with the Motherland and the Allies in ' teaching the perpetrators of outrages the meaning of solidarity and brotherhood of the nations, to preserve tlie strength, integrity and majesty of the Empire.
