The Mount Cook Motor Company suffered a heavy loss this morning by the complete destruction of their garage at Fairlie by fire. The second south-bound express this afternoon carried a number of members of the 10th Reinforcements returning to their homes on, final leave. When the train was about a mile north of Doromore station, a soldier was noticed to fall from one of the carriages, but, owing to the length ami speed of the train, Ashburfcon had almost been reach-, eel before the guard learned of the accident. Surfacemen were despatched to the scene and Priva.to J. Goodser, of South Dunedin, was found lying on the grass at the side of the track with his heart badly cut and several abrasions on his face arid hand^. He was conscious then and complained of injury to his legs. Goodser, who is about 25 years of age, was conveyed to Ashburton hospital. His injuries will not prove serious. DUNEDIN, this day. M'ni'garct Florence Cook, aged nine years, fell off a punt at' Sawyer's Bay yesterday, and was drowned. '
