WELLINGTON, this day. , The Hon. •Mr Allen explained to the House yesterday afternoon that m order to stimulate recruiting he proposed tc issue periodical circular letters, the first , of which was beiiig sent round this 1 week. Membersj, he said, knew t-hat the recruiting «traih on the couptry was' now . veryy. severe, an 4 that. that about 6000 men would be needed to 'go" into camp m October. They anticipated having sufficient meA to fill up the October requirements, providing all the men registered answered the call. It was proposed tq expedite the departure of the 9th reinforcements, and v it wpuld be necessary tp d get them , into .camp early m Noveniber,;in Which month 4000 additional medically .fit men would be required! . A y , further 4000 - w.ould be needed m January, and thereafter 4000 1 everyrtwo months. There app6ar,ed to.be no reason tp alter our, regulations at the present time, ; but it seemed to be opportune for him to remind the. country of the * demand, hence, his decision to issue circulars. The -first was addressed to employerfc because- he -thought it necessary to ask employers at the outset to look forward to the time wjien they might ,need to so organise/ their business as to . letthei. unmarried men m their employ enlistj; He wished to explain, however, that he did not propose to dp anything to deplete the staffs of woollen, boot, and, other, manufacturing establishments where equipment was made.
