LAST NIGHT'S TELEGRAMS.
(Per '■■ Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Arthur .Charles Nottingham, aged 17, while cycling to his home at Halswell this eyeriing, collided Avith a. tramcar and had his skull, jaw and an arm and a leg fractured. He was dead when picked up. DUNEDIN, last night.
A distressing burning accident, where--by Mrs- Pennycook| wife of. Captain Pennycook, proprietor of the Clutha Leader, lost her life, occurred at Balclutha early 'this .morning. She had been suffering from influenza and erysipelas.' and was under medical treatment. Early this morning she left her bed and stood beside the fire. By some means her nightdress caught fire. Her screams awakened "her son and daughter, who extinguished the flames. The '-shock to the system was so severe that death occurred ahout midday. Captain Pennycook, is on his way to the Dardanelles m charge of the Otago detachment of the Sixth Reinforcements. Deceased-, -who leaves four sons ahd two daughters, was about 20 years of age> and was a daughter of Mr Graham, formerly statiohmaster at Timaru.
