CORONATION DAY.

CONCLUSION OF THE CARNIVAL FESTIVITIES.

IWv that, the queen voting has been concluded, .the 'time approaches when the great coronation festivities will bung the Carnival to a conclusion. Already nearly £25,000 lias been collected tor the patriotic funds through the Carnival, and an effort is being made t<> eclipse the Christchurch record ofv £3o,Goo. Given fiiua weather and asuecessfulday on June 3rd, this object should be achieved, and Gisborne hold the carnival lecord. '■ Those desiring to help are asked to donate calces an l d sandwiches for » the tea rooms on tho ground. The Salva--' won Array have loudly consented. Ko run the tea-rooms on the Victors Domain, whilst tlv; Rugby Union have lent their training shed to be used as a tea-room on the reserve. The latter will be run under the 1 direction of Mrs Crawford, assisted by a staff of ladies. Special mention must be made of t,Jie stock and produco sale to be held o:i the reserve. Donations are invited ffarmers of sheep, cattle> pigs, > id horses, or produce of any kind. It is the intention of .the special sub-committee set up to manage the stock sale, to try to make this portion of tno day's busines one of the chief money raisers, and given the support of those able to supply stock, and produce should more, than realise : especU.tLoris. As Thursday next is a compulspiV holiday under the Shops and Offices Act and under the Factories Act, all' business premises will oe closed, and the day will be, devoted to festivities. t In addition to the actual crowning hi the Queen-elect, sports, Bide-shows,. and other amusements will bo arranged for the • benefit 'of .those present. iA particular feature will be the baby show, whilst on the Domain both football and hockey matches will be played.
