GISBORNE SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The Gisborne School Committee held •its regular monthly meeting m the school last evening* There were present Dr Porter (m the chair), Mesdames Church and Walker, and Messrs Wildißh, Coleman and Sawyer. Tenders for the supply Of school stationery were received from _evei.il firms. Owing tO a misunderstanding it was decided that tenders be received till next Friday at noon, and a sub-committee was set up to deal' with them. On thc recommendation of the Finance Committee several small accounts were passed for payment, and some' 1 repairs recommended by the Visiting .Committee. The Headmaster reported an average attendance of 777 .since last meeting of committee, 90.1 per cent, of the roll number. Miss Mortleman has now taken up her duties as assistant mistress. The children have contributed, through the medium of the election of si May Queen, the sum of £34' lis 6d to the Creche funds. Mr Bligh, who gives ujj his time to touring the Dominion to give instruction ii. sexual and moral purity subjects, addressed the elder boys of this school during the month. Dealing with his subject as he does Mr Bligh is doing good work among the boys, lie referred 'to the death of two old boys of the school, who have been killed m battle. Cecil James ; Hacche and Cecil Thomas Percy Ellery. It was decided to send letters of sympathy to the parents of these boys, and to set up at si future date an Honors Board m the
