Recruiting should ■ draw a powerful Stimulus from the extraordinarily enthusiastic send-off given to-day to the Auckland provincial quota of 352 men for the extra reinforcement draft of the Expeditionary Force. Bunting was freely displayed m all directions', and thousands Iftied the streets as the troops marched to the station, cheers greeting the troops all along the route, while the train steamed out amidst a great demonstration. The Mayor made a suggestion .0 me Patriotic Society to recommend .he Government to impose a shilling increase on first-class railway tares as a means of increasing tne war funds. The society decided to forward' the recommendation to tbe Government. _ Captain Goldingham has placed at tie disposal of the Mana.watu Patriotic Society his cottage at Paekakariki, con taining four to six "beds for convalescent soldjers. He will bear the cost of upkeep himself.
